CC Power rating
One number per team: goals per game better than an average D1 team, built from completed-season final scores and adjusted for opponents and home field. See the Power Ranking.
For each game: home margin = home rating − away rating + home edge (0.75 goals) Ratings are fit to all margins at once, shrunk toward a prior (ridge, λ = 2.0) Prior = 1.25 × last season's rating (0 if none) CC Power = rating, in goals per game vs. an average D1 team
Pythagorean win% (CC Pyth W%)
Expected win% from goals scored (PF) and goals allowed (PA) in completed games:
CC Pyth W% = PF^2 / (PF^2 + PA^2)
Strength of schedule (SOS)
The average season win% of the teams you played:
SOS = average of each opponent's season win% win% = (W + 0.5 × T) / (W + L + T)
Clear % and Ride %
From play-by-play possessions.
CC Clear % = successful clears / clear attempts (a clear attempt is any possession that doesn't start with a faceoff win) CC Ride % = opponent failed clears / opponent clear attempts
Shots per possession (CC SPP)
From play-by-play possessions.
CC Def SPP = opponent shots / opponent possessions (lower is better) CC Off SPP = team shots / team possessions
Defensive box rates
- GA/G = goals allowed per game
- CT/G = caused turnovers per game
- GB/G = ground balls per game
- GB-start margin/G = possessions started off a ground ball, minus the opponent's, per game (play-by-play)
Position boards
On Players, pick Field (everyone but faceoff specialists), Attack / Midfield / Defense / Goalie, or FO (faceoff specialists).
CC-WAR: value above a typical player
How much a field player adds compared with a typical player at the same position, with goals and assists weighted by the strength of the opponent.
Faceoff specialists
Anyone who took 40 or more faceoffs in the season is rated on CC-FO instead of CC-WAR.
Opponent weighting
opponent factor = 0.5 + opponent's season win% (about 0.5 to 1.5) × 1.05 if the player's team won that game weighted goals = sum of the opponent factor for each goal weighted assists = sum of the opponent factor for each assist
Players with no play-by-play goals or assists use plain box-score totals, and are labeled.
The formula
“Typical” is the average per-game rate for players at the same listed position (A / M / D / G) with at least 5 games played.
CC-WAR = sum of weight × (player per-game rate − typical rate) × games played Weights: goal 0.6, assist 0.4, ground ball 0.25, caused turnover 0.35, save 0.3, goal allowed -0.4
CC-FO (faceoff specialists)
CC-FO = (0.15 × (FO wins/G − typical) + -0.1 × (FO losses/G − typical)) × games played
In 2026 about 56% of goals list an assist, so assist weighting covers only those goals.
